General information
Elaeocarpus pedunculatus is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 30 metres tall. The bole can be up to 52cm in diameter. The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a food. A sub-canopy tree in undisturbed to disturbed mixed dipterocarp, kerangas, scrub and coastal forests, mostly growing on hillsides and ridges, but also common in alluvial places; at elevations up to 1,700 meter above sea level.
Distribution: Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, and Philippines. Local names in Borneo: Kalabobok, Kedok, Kelembubuk, Kolimbobok, Kungkurad, Parous-parous, Peredu, Prius-prius.
